Location: Vancouver Chess School 温哥华国际象棋学校 

Arbutus Shopping Centre # 252-4255 Arbutus Street, Vancouver, BC (Ample free parking) 

*Use the entrance next to A & W Restaurant; take the escalator up to 2nd floor - Unit 252 

 

Date: Aug 1-2 (Saturday & Sunday) 

 

Please show up at least 5 minutes before round starts. We will start the clock according to the schedule below.

		Round 3 – 3:00pm
	Sunday, Aug 2	Round 4 – 10:00am
		Round 5 – 12:45pm
		Round 6 – 3:00pm
	Awards – estimated at 5:15pm

 

Prizes:  Guaranteed first prize of $600. Other prizes based on entries. $2500 prize fund if 50 players. Classes to be determined by entries  

 

Eligibility: All adults are welcome, including unrated players. No rating restriction.

For Juniors grade P-12: Please note that a minimum rating of CFC 1100 is required. No exception.

If you have a CFC rating of less than 1100, you are most welcome to participate in the 2-day Vancouver Junior Open which is also CFC rated and runs the same time control, G/60 (or equivalent). The Junior Open is the stepping stone to gain experience and rating increment to qualify for our future Vancouver West Open events

 

 

Ratings:  CFC & CMA rated. Valid CFC membership is required.  

Annual membership of $38 adult or $25 junior, tournament membership of $16 adult or $8 junior. You can register or renew online before the tournament or pay cash onsite.

Chess notation is required. Please bring your own scorebook. 必需作象棋记录。请自备象棋记录本  

 

Time Control:  G/60 (or equivalent)

Format:  6-round Swiss format  

Bye Request  轮空要求:  If you cannot attend all 6 rounds, maximum of 2 half point byes (except last round) is allowed. Request must be made at least ½ hour before the round starts. 如果你不能参加所有6个回合，你必须在赛前半小时请求不超过2次半分轮空（除最后一轮）

 

Chess sets and clocks are provided. 提供象棋和棋钟。 

 

Registration Fees & payment  网上注册及付费:     

$50 by Jul 31 (early bird discount); $60 regular.  

Sibling discount: $10 off for 2^nd member or higher in the family 

No onsite registration is allowed. Cut off time: 8pm / Jul 31

NMs & FMs $10 off.  Free for IMs/GMs and player rated above 2300 CFC. Please email us at info@vanchess.ca to register.
