Team B.C. GRANDMASTER Training

Join a select group of invited chess players representing BC’s strongest featuring GM Evgeny Bareev lecturing via Skype and BCCF President Stephen Wright leading ensuing analysis and practice sessions.   Each session will consist of an hour-long online lecture by IGM Evgeny Bareev, followed by the playing out and analysis of set positions to further enhance and deepen the understanding of the topics covered.  

Classes will concentrate on positional concepts in the middlegame and endgame, including exchanging, controlling open files, playing against the two bishops, the principle of two weaknesses, positional evaluation, bishop versus knight, doubled pawns, and attacking the uncastled king. 

Invited participants will include the members of Team B.C. from the last National Chess Challenge plus a second player per grade, chosen by CMA (grades 1-3) or CFC (grades 4-12) rating. Other players may be invited at the discretion of the organizer.

Columbia College 438 Terminal Avenue, Vancouver  

*Our classrooms are on the 4th floor; Room 412 or 414 

*Street parking and underground parking ($2 per hour) 

*Note no "U-turn" is allowed on Terminal Avenue

Registration fees: 

$150 ($15 x 10 sessions) for Team B.C. members

$250 ($25 x 10 sessions) for non Team B.C. members

Refund policy  

No refund within 24hours. If you have 24 hours or more: Log into student's account and click cancel under "My tournament"

No partial refund if you cannot attend some of the sessions

Class material and homework will be distributed after each lesson
