Last Sunday, over 60 players participated in our first Fantasy League tournament. Thank you for your patience as it took some time to organize our eager participants into 10 teams. Team members were assigned according to their ratings and experiences. We strived to distribute the players' strengths evenly to ensure an exciting tournament. And exciting it was! After 5 rounds of show-downs, Boxing Kangaroos threw some serious punches and scored 4 points out of 5, and became the first champion team in our series of Fantasy League tournaments. Super Bees, Karate Tigers and Roaring Lions all scored 3.5 points. By computer tie breaking calculation, they were finished as 2nd, 3rd and 4th places respectively. We also held a knock-out Blitz event afterwards, and Ethan L. took the prize with his blazing-fast speed thinking. Special thanks to Max Gedajlovic who gave 15 of our players their first experience of simultaneous exhibition games. Another side event, the bug house games, was also very popular. Many players were having so much fun that they were disappointed the full-day event was coming to an end. We are so glad that our players, regardless of their experiences, had a great day of fun chess. Future tournaments will be posted on the events page. Please stay tuned.
