Alex showed mental and spacial reasoning talents at a young age by setting a world record in a geographical memorization task. He is entering the twelfth grade and is one of the top math students in his entire school. In the recent 2014 BC Youth Chess Championship, he tied for first place ahead of the current 2013 BC Closed Champion and defeated a former BC Junior Champion for an impressive 2208 performance rating. He recently represented BC in the BC-Washington Match and won both his round contributing to the greatest victory over Washington State in BC Chess History. Despite these achievements of being a formidable competitor, he is very friendly, cheerful, and humble.
